Rock Cottage sits between Mawgan and Gear Bridges on a promontory overlooking the upper reaches of the Helford River on two sides. There are no other properties in view and its magnificent scenery has not changed in centuries!
Mawgan is ten minutes on foot from Rock Cottage, which has The Ship Inn with a popular Restaurant, 12th century church, and the village stores which is stocked with all you may need during your stay. From Rock Cottage in the opposite direction, crossing the ancient Gear Bridge, will lead you to The Prince of Wales in Newtown and onwards to the New Inn at Manaccan, and eventually Helford village.
Helston town, famous for Flora Day in early May, is ten minutes by car and has a large Tesco Store, Sainsbury's and a Lidls on the outskirts of the town, as well as many pubs, bakers/pasty shops, cafes, tea shops, a leisure centre, cinema and a folk museum. It is an interesting town and worth a visit.
