From our Guest Book

We had a lovely time in Rock Cottage, Linda and hope to come back soon!
We did a 5-hour circular walk from Helford to Little Dennis via Mannacan on Wednesday, which was glorious; I had my fill of medieval churches and museums in the week. We went to Helston swimming pool twice and saw a woodpecker on the birdfeeder the morning we left - what a symbol of hope and Spring!
Thank you for making our stay so special-we were really touched by the Easter buns, lemon curd, and eggs for the boys. Melisande, Mark, Eugene & Gabriel (Plymouth, Devon) Easter 2024

We really can't say enough about Rock Cottage.  We just love it and every time we stay, there is more to discover about the area and the fabulous ever-changing scenery on the creek, never fails to keep us staring out the kitchen window!  Warm, very cosy and so comfortable (that's just the bed), and so much attention to detail everywhere. So clean and thoroughly prepared inside and out.  We are never disappointed and although we do holiday in other areas, this is our favourite. The owners really do care and always go the extra mile to please you.  Huge thank you. X  See you in 2024. Pete & Helen (West Sussex) December 2023

Wonderful location. Great spot for a fisherman/bird spotter. The cottage itself has everything you need to relax in the idyllic surroundings all functioning and spotless, from crisp fresh sheets, white goods to WiFi. Dan & Jules (Essex) November 2023

Rock Cottage is a wonderful hideaway with amazing views and everything within that you could need and more. Linda and Robin are very welcoming and helpful. The basket of goodies was much appreciated and devoured especially the home made bread. I couldn’t recommend staying there highly enough and we will certainly return. Thanks again both. Ronald & Janet (Wigan) October 2023

This really is one of the most magical places we have ever stayed. We loved the peace and quiet, and the wonderful view of the creek. We found beautiful beaches, boating, costal paths and body boarding all in a short distance along with some tasty eateries! Our children loved it and we certainly hope to come back. Susanna & Family (Bristol) October 2023

Thank you Linda and Robin for letting us stay in your amazing cottage. This is our second visit and this time we discovered how amazing the night sky is; millions of stars and the Milky Way can be seen on a clear night.  We enjoyed going out in Peggy and were thrilled to see an Osprey hovering above us before it dived for fish. The Ship Inn is definitely worth a visit, very friendly staff and delicious food as is the seal sanctuary in Gweek.  Kynance Cove is spectacular and look out for 'Ellies Soul Kitchen' a pop-up caravan cafeteria with delicious food, found on your right as you go in. Already looking forward to our next visit to Rock Cottage. Lynn & Steve (Plymouth) 9 to 16 September.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday! Really enjoyed the idyllic setting, getting to fish from Peggy and all the stunning coastal and woodland walks nearby - it really is a fabulous setting.  Thank you so much Linda and Robin x Anne, Neil, Jacob and Luke (Cardiff) 26 August to 2 September.

Thank you for letting us stay here.  We really liked the views and loved going out in Peggy.  We loved our holiday and visited many places including St Ives, Porthleven, The Eden Project, Flambards and Mullion.  Thank you Robin and Linda. xxx  The Shreeve Family (Cumbria) 19 to 26 August.

We have really enjoyed our stay here at Rock Cottage in this most idyllic setting.  We explored the creek on Peggy and were thrilled to see a seal! The week has gone so quickly but highlights were definitely kayaking at Porthoustock and a fantastic Thai meal at Jumanji - well worth a visit.  We spent some time on the beach at Gunwalloe (Church Cove) which was beautiful.  Thank you so much Linda and Robin. Helen, Steve & Thomas (Reading, Berkshire) 12 to 19 August.

We have loved staying at this stunning cottage and what a wonderful place this is!  The cottage is really well equipped and had everything we needed.  We loved exploring Helford River and thrilled to see a seal one day!

Our favourite places were Cadgwith Cove, Poldhu Cove and Porthleven.  Praa Sands and Kynance Cove were fabulous too.  Our children loved surf lessons at St Ives and then put their surf skills to good use at Poldhu!  We hope to be back.  Thank you Linda & Robin.  The Davies Family (Hindhead, Surrey) 5 to 12 August.

It's been a long time since we enjoyed a holiday so much.  Rock Cottage is simply beautiful.  Lovingly tended by Linda and Robin.  Everything is just so comfortable. Great nights' sleep and memorable day trips all over Cornwall.  Cadgwith Cove stole our hearts.  Thanks for the memories.  We will be back xxxx Sandra and Niall, Lily & Heather (Lancashire) 8 to 22 July .

What an absolutely fantastic experience, faultless accommodation.  Idyllic views. Filled the car with pasties and sausage rolls.  Never tasted anything like it.  Peggy was the highlight of the holiday along with the ever changing views.  The Mussel Shoal at Porthleven for food is a must.  Thank you so much - wish we could have stayed much longer. Binnie & Ron (Exmouth, Devon) 29 June to 3 July.

Rock Cottage was a really peaceful and relaxing place to return to at the end of a busy day exploring.  Will leave feeling 10 years younger (I wish!).  Would love to come again. Debbie & Keven & Tilly (Crowborough, E Sussex) 19 to 24 June.

It was everything we'd hoped for - and more! We were blessed with great weather so were able to enjoy many outings on Peggy.  Ate many a pasty from the local farm - delicious.  The view of the creek was magnificent and unforgetable! Jackie and Russ (N Wales) 10 to 17 June.

What a fantastic, well equipped, relaxing, peaceful cottage.  A sunny yet breezy stay.  Wonderful view down the creek and highlights seeing all the birds in the garden including jays and green woodpecker.  Great fun splashing about in Peggy and being watched by a common seal.  Had a wonderful time.  Thank you! Rachel, Paul, Zoe and Alexander (Andover, Hants) 27 May to 3 June.

(We had a wonderful time at a wonderful cottage.  Thanks for having us! Yvonne, Timm, Lasse and Joshua (Hamburg, Germany) 13 to 20 May.

Thank you for the stay in your unique and wonderful cottage.  We had a wonderful time exploring the Peninsula and enjoying the fabulous flush of Spring; we spent boating days on stormy beaches - unfortunately the weather stopped us from taking Peggy out but we had much fun baling her out!!  We will be sure to take her out next time we come! Mary & Lawrence (Churchstoke, Powys) 6 to13 May.

We had a lovely time at Rock Cottage and will undoubtedly be returning in the future. Peter & Eve (Horsham, West Sussex) 1 to 5 May

Thank you for the welcome pack, it was lovely.  Location, location that is what makes the cottage so stunning especially the view out of the kitchen window.  Could have just watched the birds out of the window all week.  A very well equipped cottage with everything we needed. Jill, George & Karl (Stamford, Lincs) 15 to 22 April

A very wet and windy week but we've loved watching the birds from the kitchen window and that ever-changing view!  Getting out in Peggy when weather and tides allowed, was wonderful, but mostly it's been lovely to just get some distance and have the chance to relax.  Thank you so much for a wonderful stay once again. The Vines Family (Oxfordshire) 27 March to 1 April

We've had a wonderful long weekend taking in the amazing views and all the wildlife.  It's been a very relaxing stay and we've been very lucky with the weather.  The view of the creek will be imprinted in our memories.  Thanks for making your lovely cottage so welcoming for us.  Paul & Jo (Mary Tavy, Devon) 23 to 27 March

Thank you so much for allowing us a short stay for Niks special birthday. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay even though it was a little wet at times; it didn't dampen our enjoyment.  Also a big thank you for Nik's birthday cake and Prosecco - so very kind and thoughtful of you. Sad to leave your special place. Sue & Nik (Plymouth) 9 to 13 March 2023

Thank you for another lovely week at Rock Cottage; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Lynn, Jon & Family (Wool, Dorset) 11 to 18 February 2023
We love Rock Cottage. We will be back. Rock Cottage is like home from home. Paul and I wish you an amazing New Year. Fran & Paul (Steyning, W Sussex) 26 December to 2 January 2023
Our second stay here and Rock Cottage did not disappoint - that view is spectacular!  We have explored this wonderful part of Cornwall during our stay here and definite highlights were Frenchman's Creek,Poldhu and Mullion Cove.  Also worth a trip to visit Sam Vado in his weirdly wonderful wooden sculpture workshop, near Traboe (near Helston) - his work is beautiful and he is a great character.
Thank you Linda and Robin for working so hard to keep the cottage so beautiful - it is a pleasure to stay here. Mandy & Mike (Lulworth, Dorset) 8 to 15 October
We’ve had a lovely time. The cottage is in a beautiful setting, very well equipped and in a great location for exploring the area. Claire & Chris (Okehampton, Devon) 1 to October

We've had a very relaxing time at Rock Cottage and enjoyed the fabulous ever-changing views and wildlife, both from the patio and through the kitchen window when it was colder.  Although we've had a mixed bag of weather, we've managed to get out on the water when the tides have allowed and enjoyed some lovely walks.  We've also visited a variety of beaches - including some old favourites and making some new discoveries.  Rob & Alison (Sleepy Magna, Warks) 10 to 24 September

A very wet, thundery week after a summer of sunshine - but it didn't seem to matter a bit!

  • Wonderful walk to Helford via Frenchmans Creek and Tremayne Quay from Rock Cottage.
  • Walk from Coverack to Helford on the coast path - stunning.
  • Walk from St Keverne cross country via St Martin to Rock Cottage.
  • On a wet (very wet!) day, the Penlee Gallery in Penzance was great.
  • Village shop fantastic, Gear Farm pasties & sausage rolls the best we have tasted.
  • AND - daily forays on to the creek on Peggy were perfect.
  • Seeing an Osprey at close quarters will not be forgotten!
  • Also a daily swim in the creek at high tide was wonderful.
  • On the wettest day whilst walking our dog, Peggy, on Praa Sands, we learnt that the Queen had died, so we will always remember the Lizard for this as well.  What a place - Thank You. The Dunscombe Family (Ashburton, Devon) 3 to 10 September.

We've spent a wonderful week here at Rock Cottage and will be so sad to say goodbye to this lovely place! We've had some fabulous days at Kynance Cove, Poldhu beach, Church Cove and St Michael's Mount - as well as fun times on the creek, kayaking, crabbing and rowing out on 'Peggy'.  We've also enjoyed lovely meals and fantastic service at The Black Swan in Gweek amongst other places. Thank you so much - such a special place to enjoy time as an extended family! Clare, Steven, Dexter (10) and Ralph (8) (Faringdon, Oxfordshire) and Clive & Shirley (Le Plesois, France) 27 August to 3 September

Just back from another enjoyable, rewarding and relaxing holiday in this very special place. Despite the drought, the garden was looking trim and pleasing, and as usual we thoroughly enjoyed rowing down the creek and out onto the river in Peggy. Many thanks to Linda, Robin and Steve for making Rock Cottage such a wonderful place, and all the hard work that goes into keeping it that way. Jeremy, Judith, Michael and Rachael (Reading) 20 to 27 August

We've enjoyed a fabulous experience at Rock Cottage. All the family loved exploring the creek on Peggy and the location provided the perfect opportunity to try paddle boarding.  It's been great to see and hear so much wildlife - we may start a trend for binocular tan lines!  Thanks for providing such a comfortable and peaceful retreat and sharing a special place with others. The Cooper's (Lower Beddington, Northants) 6 to 20 August

We had a wonderful week, thank you so much. It certainly is a special place. We are already missing the view! The girls loved the access to the river and their paddleboarding skills really improved. The Redmond Family (Tadcaster, N Yorkshire) 23 to 30 July

We’ve had a fabulous time and will be very sad to leave. Gorgeous place and lovely weather. The Waddington Family (France) 9 to 16 July

What a lovely place to stay - we enjoyed the cottage and the location very much.  We had plans to go far and wide, but mainly stayed on The Lizard exploring the coastal walks, pretty fishing villages and gorgeous beaches.  1 x A swam from Gunwalloe Church Cove, Coverack and in the Creek several times.  Peggy was great - wish we had used her more and been a bit braver! Amanda & Anthony and Katharine (Chertsey, Surrey and Stoke Poges, Bucks) 2 to 9 July

Keith and I want to thank you for our marvellous holiday at Rock Cottage.  It really is a very special place.  Apart from walks over the two bridges, we never left the cottage and garden; why leave such an idyllic location?  A wonderful week. Sun, rain, high or low tide, we never bored of the view.  Sara & Keith (Nr Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk) 25 June to 2 July

A lovely week had in Rock Cottage.  We visited Looe, Polperro, Mevagissey, St Mawes, Porthleven, Mousehole and Porthallow.  So Rock Cottage has been a great base to visit all the above places.  Enjoyed fishing in the estuary on Peggy.  Amazing birdlife all around.  A good restore and recharge had by all. The Sweeney Clan (Wales & Isle of Man) 18 to 25 June

Thank you so much Linda & Robin for a wonderful holiday.  Rock Cottage is adorable and we loved it! The addition of the wonderful Peggy completed the 'Three go mad in Cornwall' vibe. Wonderful meals at Castaways, Mylor; The Cadgwith Cove (complete with folk music live!) and the pub at Coverack.  We ate so much fish from Cadgwith we have developed gills! Jago had wonderful paddle boarding with Lawrence at 'Ocean High' - highly recommend (Marazion).  The weather was so beautifully warm! Charles, Liza & Jago (17) & Kaspar (Puddletown, Dorset) 11 to 18 June

We arrived a couple of days late for our holiday due to other family commitments.  We arrived late on the Monday evening to find breakfast items had been left for us, which was a really kind gesture. Waking up on Tuesday morning to the most beautiful view, we felt as though we had stepped into swallows and amazons.  The children have had much delight crabbing off the jetty every morning. After full days at the local beaches, we enjoyed peaceful evenings in the garden - BBQ, playing card games and relaxing with the view.  Our two dogs joined up and have loved lying on the grass looking out at their domain.  The organisation and detail at the cottage has been incredible.  Thank you for our delightful stay and we will certainly be back. The Nieduszynski Family (Henley on Thames) 28 May to 4 June

Lovely week in Rock Cottage, first visit since 2004!  Mixed weather but still managed to enjoy the gardens and the wonderful views every day.  Fed the voracious birds loads of food - the nuthatches particularly like the sunflower seeds - even got jays visiting the bird table. Perhaps the highlight of the week was the walk from the cottage to Helford, via Kestle Barton and Frenchman's Creek.  Lunchtime stop at the 'Shipwright's Arms'.  Gear Farm pasties the best and for a special treat would recommend the fine dining experience at the Ship Inn in Mawgan.  Thanks as always to Linda and Robin. David, Helen, Rachel & Dylan (Cardiff) 14 to 21 May

Thank you for letting us stay in your little piece of paradise.  We fell in love with the ever changing view of the river with all its wildlife.  The garden is just magical with all the spring flowers at the moment.  It truly is a special place and a holiday to remember.  Cheryl & Mark and Ned the Spaniel (Blackbrook, Derbyshire) 30 April to 7 May

Thank you for providing us with the opportunity of staying at your lovely cottage.  The fantastic views, Peggy and the huge variety of birds kept us enthralled the whole week.  We spent more time outside in the garden than inside!!!! Pauline & Carl (Exeter) 23 to 29 April

It was a lovely holiday.  The cottage is fantastic with views to die for!   Thanks again, and we will recommend Rock Cottage to our friends.  Teresa, Paul & Beryl (West Midlands) 26 March to 2 April
Daffodils inside and out greeted us on arrival along with a cream tea - thank you.  We were instantly captivated by the amazing view over the estuary and the sound of birdsong which filled the air.  We spent lots of time sitting and looking at the ever changing view and being thrilled at each different bird we saw and heard.  We can recommend: The walk around Helford via Frenchman's creek, a visit to Porthleven for a special lunch at Kota Kai, 'Slice of Cornwall' for either coffee, cake or a delicious lunch, New Yard Restaurant for dinner and the local shop in Mawgan village.
Thank you Linda and Robin for providing a beautifully restored cottage which is so welcoming and leaves you feeling rejuvenated by its atmosphere and very special surroundings.  Lynn & Steve (Plymouth) 8 to 12 March
Hi Linda, we are having a wonderful time, thank you.  The weather has been very kind so far and the house is ideal for us.  Very cosy and a lovely view every morning. Kealey, Sarah & Kate (Dartmouth, Devon) 21-26 February 2022
We've admired the setting of this cottage for many years on our trips to the Helford. And we eventually got to try it out. Wow. We weren't disappointed. The cottage is beautifully presented with what looks like a brand new kitchen and bathroom. It was filled with fresh flowers and goodies on our arrival, and was absolutely spotless. The kitchen window looks right down Mawgan Creek. This was my office view for a few days, and thankfully (or maybe not!) the wi-fi was good enough for many lengthy zoom calls. I spent many hours watching the birds feed from the bird table outside that window when the video calls got boring; Linda had very thoughtfully left bird food and we weren't disappointed by the many visitors. The kitchen was very well equipped for people like us who love to cook with local produce (so many rentals aren't). There were even scales, and a rolling pin! The bed was very comfy. If you love the constant change of a tidal river, you'll love it. Can't imagine how amazing it must be in Spring or Summer when the boat is available too. Wonderful. Pip & Chris (Clapham, London) 27 December to 3 January 2022

A wonderful stay for 4 days in a fantastic cottage. The cottage was spotlessly clean with everything you need for a short or long holiday. The garden and views were stunning, it was very hard to drag ourselves away from the window..! The location was great for The Lizard and surrounding area, everything within a short drive. The owners are very friendly and provided excellent service before and during our stay. They made us feel very welcome we instantly relaxed on arrival. 5 Stars are not enough....! Peter & Anna-Maria (Plymouth, Devon) December 2021

After looking back through the Guest Book, we realised that we haven't been back to Rock Cottage since 2017 - far too long!! We have had a lovely week - the weather has been glorious!! Our days have been - walking the dog, lunch in a pub and then back to Rock Cottage for a few glasses of red wine - the perfect break. If you have time, a walk around Penrose Estate and Loe Pool is a beautiful way to spend a few hours. Lunch at the Shipwright Arms in Helford is always a treat.  Enjoy!! Carol & Roger (Tenterden, Kent) November 2021

What a lovely cottage in such beautiful and unique surroundings.  We echo all that previous Rock Cottagers have already said!  3 trips out in Peggy, and on our last one, we were thrilled to see a Kingfisher down opposite the mooring as we gently rowed back in. Thanks Linda for this spotless and well-equipped cottage and the 'welcome pack' and vases of fresh flowers were lovely too.  We hope to return....  Kate & Will (Penshurst, Kent) 18th to 25th September

Probably our 10th visit to Rock Cottage.  Lovely to be able to retrace some of our favourite walks.  Perfect weather with just Friday afternoon being a bit damp. Very nice lunch at the pub at Manaccan.  Thank you very much for the scones etc.  They were very welcome on arrival.  Miles & Jill (Sheffield) 11th to 18th September

This was our 11th visit to Cornwall and I must say the best.  The setting of the cottage and the Cottage itself made our stay perfect.  The only thing missing was the fish.  The nearest I got to a fish was in Tesco's but that was a small price to pay. Ha.  Great fun was had feeding the swans and ducks and just relaxing in the evenings.  Thanks for everything. The Bolgers (Finders Village, West Sussex) 4th to 11th September

Amazing stay! Andy, Lisa, Amaya & Atalia (Bristol) 28th August to 4th September

We had a wonderful time, thank you and hope to see you again.  We would not hesitate to look to book again! Colin, Joanne & Ella (Durham) 21st to 28th August

We loved watching the changing scenery every day as the tide ebbed and flowed.  This was a really special, restful week.  Some of our highlights have included: surfing lessons at Poldhu beach, coasteering with Lizard Adventures, watching "Our House" (Madness musical) at Minack Theatre and walking the coastal paths as well as exploring all of the local beaches and coves.  We loved going out in Peggy and our kayak and paddleboard down the lovely peaceful creek at high tide.  we also had lots of success crabbing!  Definitely recommend the pasties from the farm shop up the road - they were amazing!  Thank you for a great stay. x The Bradbury Family (Lincolnshire) 14th to 21st August

A peaceful stay in a well presented cottage.  This was a first visit to Cornwall for most of us and though the weather was not at its best, this did not stop us enjoying the stunning view, coastline and food.  We will be back! Michael, Giselle, Stephanie & Valentina (London) August 2021

What a lovely stay at Rock Cottage.   We loved the view and enjoyed playing games and reading in the garden.  Richard spotted 43 birds!  We had fun with Peggy, we tried crabbing and got very muddy.  It's been lovely and peaceful and we have really enjoyed relaxing in such lovely surroundings. Thanks for a great stay, we would love to come again. Rhian, Eluned, Richard, Seren & Elen (Cardiff & Nottinghamshire) August 2021

Another wonderful week at Rock Cottage.  Everything perfect from the fabulous scenery to the cottage itself and even the weather!  Thank you Linda & Robin - I'm sure we'll be back!
Carmel, Andy, Fleur, Stevie & Steph + Baby Bump! (Lyme Regis) June/July 2021

After a false start in 2020, we made it to Rock Cottage this year and so pleased we did.  A beautifully presented, well equipped cottage in an idyllic location.  The view from the kitchen window is just fabulous and I have spent many hours with binoculars just observing the ever changing scene.
We have really enjoyed exploring the area; the coves, the beaches as well as the Roseland Peninsular, St Mawes, Mylor and Helford.  Excellent food at The Ship.  Thank you Linda & Robin for the welcoming goodies and for letting us share your delightful cottage.
David & Jennifer (Beccles, Suffolk) June 2021

It's been lovely to return to Rock Cottage.  We have had an amazing week, it's just so very beautiful here.  Thank you Linda for the delicious tray of goodies and the lovely flowers you left for us, they have been much enjoyed.  We have felt very welcome and safe during our stay and it was lovely to see you again.  We really liked the new bathroom it looks so smart.  John & Julia (Letchworth G. City, Herts) June 2021

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rock Cottage.  The weather has been a bit on the chilly side this week but it hasn't stopped us getting out and about. We have loved sitting by the window watching the ever changing view and also the antics of the squirrel as he tried to get to the bird seed before the birds got to it.  Colin thought 'Peggy' was great and set off with his fishing rods whenever the tide allowed. No fish but he loved rowing out in the boat and trying his luck.  We visited Gunwalloe, Helford, Hayle, Poldhu and Helston.  It was great to revisit places we had been before but also some new ones.  The bluebells and primroses are stunning at this time of year especially at Glendurgan Gardens which are well worth a visit but book if you can as there are still limited numbers allowed.  Try the fresh crab at Cadgwith Cove, delicious with salad and new Cornish potatoes.  Also the pasties at Gear Farm which smell wonderful when you buy them straight out of the oven.
Thank you Linda and Robin for the use of your delightful cottage also for the scrumptious homemade bread, cream tea and other goodies which we enjoyed sitting out in the sunshine last Sunday afternoon looking at the view. Wonderful!
Linda & Colin (Brighton, Sussex) May 2021

Rock Cottage is wonderful and we will definitely rebook! We loved Peggy and the ever changing creek.  Many thanks.
Adam and Chrissie (Wells, Somerset) April 2021

A fabulous week back at Rock Cottage, thank you Linda and Robin for your warm welcome, help and advice.
We sailed, rowed, kayaked on the paddle board, and had a lovely time.  Great walk to Tremayne Quay and Penrose Estate and swimming at Poldhu and Gunwalloe Church Cove - the girls were very brave, especially in the waves at Porthleven.  Thank you for Peggy and the wonderful mud anchor for our Mirror dinghy; we loved sailing on the enchanting Mawgan Creek.  Farewell for now, we will see you again.  Very best wishes x
Ellie, Clara, Emma, JP, Aileen & John (London and Leicester) 12th to 19th April 2021

Great to receive this email on the morning of Monday 12th April 2021 from returning guests. Lockdown ends at last!
"Linda - just wanted to let you know we arrived at Rock Cottage late last night and everything is perfect.  It felt very familiar, even at midnight, and just like coming home! Thank you so much for the welcome hamper and activity book - Ellie's busy right now doing puzzles.
Many thanks for everything you have done.  It felt amazing to wake up to the sound of the birds this morning and watch the mist on the creek.
Emma and JP"

Very relaxing stay in this lovely cottage with a glorious view.  This is the perfect location to find peace and quiet, even when the weather is a trifle challenging.  The cottage is so well equipped and spotlessly clean.  Having not visited the area for many years, we had fun exploring the old haunts and found them still as beautiful as ever.  As an area of truly outstanding natural beauty made ever more dramatic by the high winds and stormy seas. Jan & John (Salisbury, Wiltshire) 31st October 2020

Booked two more visits before we even left - we adore this place! All the colours flitting about the bird table! Gorgeous! Our first nuthatch, woodpecker too, lying on his front to scoop up the bird food - priceless!  Beautiful cottage, peaceful creek, a glorious haven.  Recommend: Mawgan stores (half mile walk), Trebah Gardens, Glendurgan NT, Trelissick NT, Trengwainton NT, Helford River walk, Lizard to Kynance coastal path, St Ives.
Richard & Tanya (Bromsgrove) 24 - 31 October '20.

What a wonderful week we've had in this delightful cottage! The view is INCREDIBLE! We went out on the creek every day, and we loved being in Peggy.  Plus, watching (and identifying with the help of the bird guide and the binoculars), the birds on the creek and the bird table made our stay so much more special.  We also enjoyed paddling over to Gweek, crabbing from the little jetty, watching the huge grey mullet jump in the creek and sitting by a fire in the garden.
This is a beautiful part of the world, and we made several short trips, going to Roskilly's Farm, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, Mullion harbour and beaches, Porthleven, Kynance Cove, Frenchman's Creek and St Michael's Mount, all of which we would definitely recommend. We didn't eat out much but Mawgan Stores had everything we needed - and more!  And I can't forget the cottage itself - everything was high quality, even with Covid changes and there were so many homely touches that made it feel like a home-away-from-home.  Thank you so much for the goodies!
All in all, a lovely stay, and we go back feeling refreshed and relaxed.  We'll be back!
Martin, Sarah & Emily (Abingdon, Oxford) 17th - 24th October 2020

We enjoyed a lovely relaxing few days here in this idyllically located cottage.  We had planned days out but found we couldn't actually draw ourselves away from the wonderful view we already had here.  The weather turned out to be much better than the forecast, so we saw some of the beautiful Cornish landscape in the mellow Autumn sunshine.  Heading back to reality now in this weird Covid world that we are all living in but with memories of a little bit of paradise.
Andy & Mandy (Warwickshire) October 2020

Rock Cottage is a wonderful place to escape to and enjoy the tranquility of a Cornish Creek. The bird life is amazing and the vista is ever changing. We also found it very sheltered from the wind and enjoyed sitting out even when the weather worsened towards the end of our holiday. The cottage itself is a lovely character property with all amenities you could want. Despite its quiet location it is also well situated to visit many beautiful beaches and villages on the Lizard and beyond.
Graham & Pam, Bumble & Max (Warrington, Cheshire) September 2020

We have had a brilliant week staying at Rock Cottage.  As soon as we walked through the garden gate we felt ourselves just starting to relax.  The view of the creek, the changing of the water levels, the sights and sounds of the birds, all contributed to our stay.  The Lizard Peninsula provided lots of great walks on the coast path.  The dogs have had a brilliant week as well. We have walked from Kynance, Mullion Cove, Helford (both directions) around the Loe and into Porthleven and from Kennack Sands to Cadgwith Cove.  Nigel loved the pasties at Gear Farm - is taking some frozen ones home. Sad to leave.  Would love to return - spring or high summer to have more light to creek watch. Birds seen in the garden - two Woodpeckers, Nuthatch 'demands' breakfast every morning at the bird table, lots of birds on the creek that I don't know, herons and egrets that I do, plus the swans and canada geese.  Tawny owl and bats at night! On a clear night the sky is amazing! Thanks for the welcome goodies and for letting us stay here.
Anne & Nigel -Humans, Milo & Monty - Dogs. (Macclesfield, Cheshire) September 2020

We had a fantastic week at Rock Cottage (our 4th holiday here), and enjoyed every bit of it. Once again, everything was immaculate. Thank you also for the courgettes, fruit loaf, cream, jam, apple juice, biscuits, milk and homemade bread.  We saw many beautiful views of woods and the sea, as well as the amazing waves in Porthleven during Storm Ellen.  Thank you for a wonderful week.
Jeremy, Judith, Michael (aged 15) and Rachael (Reading) August 2020

It was a lovely holiday and complimented by the Cottage.  Think I may bring the Rib next time though, our boat has a little too much draft for the Creek.  At one point we were stuck on the sandbank having spent too much time at the Shipwright's Arms and had to free the boat like Humphrey Bogart in African Queen!!  Thank you and hopefully see you soon.
Michael & Vivien, Alan & Marilyn (Walsall) August 2020.

Thank you Linda and Robin for the experience of Rock Cottage. Everything we could need for our holiday. Loved the Lizard Peninsula, so many beautiful beaches, woods, wildlife, ice cream, pop-up veg stalls. We loved it and will definitely be back .....  Thank you for homemade bread and other goodies.  All were delicious and much appreciated.
Alex, James, Flo and Tom (Stratford-upon-Avon) July 2020

This really is one of the most magical places we have ever stayed. We loved the peace and quiet, and the wonderful view of the creek. We found beautiful beaches, boating, coastal paths and body boarding all in a short distance along with some tasty eateries! Our children loved it and we certainly hope to come back.
Susanna, Hugh, Isabelle, Beth & Theo (Bristol) July 2020

Well, what can we say that's not already been said in this wonderful book?  Take time to read all the excellent reviews, they are ALL TRUE!
We've had the most amazing holiday here and visited as many places as possible.  Lizard Point & Kynance Cove a particular favourite with stunning views and magical coastline.  You'll want to come back like we do and others who have before.
A HUGE thank you to Linda and Robin for letting us stay in this beautiful cottage.  You could just look out of the kitchen window all day!  p.s. Look out for the pair of swans with their adopted Canada Goose!
Simon, Marianne & Jonah (Edinburgh) October 2019

Lovely cottage, beautiful setting.  Comfortable and cosy stay with everything we needed and more.  Vases of flowers and gift box was a thoughtful touch.  Thank you so much. x
Jan & Ron (Warrington) September 2019

Our third visit to Rock Cottage, and we felt at home as soon as we opened the green gate.  Just as comfortable and well equipped as ever, and Linda's basket of treats and pretty vases of flowers were much appreciated.
Once again we brought out wildlife camera, which we set up each night in the woodland area.  We captured some delightful films of badgers and foxes scoffing the peanuts that we put down for them.  We also enjoyed watching the birds on the creek, especially the Mawgan swans and their new BFF - the little Canada goose.
The week has flown past and we can't believe that it's our last night already.
Thank you Linda and Robin for another lovely holiday.  Hope to be back next year.
Viv and Paul, (Headcorn, Kent) August/September 2019

Like all the other visitors to Rock Cottage, we have enjoyed being here; the views, the treats and the lovely little touches, so much - thank you.  We've had mixed weather but used Peggy a few times, tried to catch some fish (failed) and caught lots of crabs.
We visited Roskilly's, farm and ice cream producers with an amazing courtyard cafe twice!  Brilliant for children, plenty of space for picnics.  We walked to Godrevy Cove from their car park, quite a long way for little legs but hardly anyone there.
Caught the river ferry from Helford and walked to Glendurgan Garden, enjoyed an ice cream on the way back! Rock pooled while waiting for the outward ferry as it was just after high tide, also rock pooled at Church Cove, Gunwalloe, another fun day out.
Ate at the Mussel Shed in Porthleven, which was one of our best meals and a wonderful sun trap.  We can highly recommend the pasties from Gear Farm.
We'll be sad to leave this wonderful corner of the world and especially the breathtaking views from Rock Cottage.  Hope to come back soon.
Julian, Danielle, Poppy (6) and Elsie (4) (Wickham Bishops, Essex) August 2019

We have absolutely loved our time in the cottage - a week is not enough!  We have been out in Peggy at every high tide and enjoyed watching and listening to the varied bird life at differing times of day.
We visited Loe water and did the National Trust walk to the beach - very blowy! enjoying ice cream and coffee at The Stables cafe.  We also visited Kynance Cove, Poldhu beach and Gunwalloe and had a quick swim, jumping the waves.
Last night we went to Mullion Cove, walked along the clifftops (the views!), and listened to St Mellanus singing Cornish songs on the beach.  Joe settled well - thank you or his snacks! Thank you so much for our stay here - I have taken so many photos of the view so's not to forget it.
To all those who stay here after us - Enjoy!
Anna-Mai, Richard, Isaac - 19 years, Arthur 17 years, Rufus 13 years and Joe the dog - old (Stroud, Gloucestershire) August 2019

We've had a wonderful week here! Weather much better than expected, so spent lots of time at the beach.
Enjoyed BBQ's looking out at the river - that view is the real star of the show!
Boys enjoyed playing in the garden and of course going out on 'Peggy' and their own kayak - there's not much to beat an evening paddle!
All slept like logs in the super comfy beds - really didn't want to get out on my last morning.  Fabulous place - thank you! xx Oh and thank you for the basket of goodies too! Dooey loved his treats.
Diane, Jim, Emma, Neil, Thomas & Edward & Dooey (Stourbridge, West Midlands) August 2019

Wow, what an amazing place to relax and unwind.  Rock Cottage is absolutely beautiful.  We loved our week here and will miss the stunning views.  Peggy was so much fun and we loved watching all the wildlife.  Thank you very much for the basket of goodies you left us, it was all very much enjoyed.  We had a great time exploring out and about too; it really is a beautiful part of the country.  We caught two Mullet using bread on the outgoing tide and particularly enjoyed watching the two swans with their adopted Canada goose.  Thank you again for an amazing week.
Barbara, Tony, Dan, Debbie, Josh & Toby (Hever & Pembury, Kent) August 2019

We absolutely loved our stay here.  Amazing views of the River, lovely house in a peaceful area.  we had lots of fun in Peggy when we got back from our days out and spotted lots of wildlife.
There was also lots of places to relax - inside and out - or be entertained with games.  With the really nice weather in the past few days, we also enjoyed a barbeque and loved eating it watching the wildlife.  Overall, we felt very welcome and really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
Steven, Jenny, Lucy, Ben & Alice (Barton, Staffordshire) July/August 2019

We loved Rock Cottage & beautiful Mawgan Creek, the constant seaside chorus & rhythm of the tide offering wonderful distractions; crabbing, exploring the river with Peggy, paddle boarding under bridges and feeding the fat wood pigeon amongst many other little friends; remote yet so quickly connected to the best of Cornwall's beaches...go early to Kynance Cove on a dropping tide & walk round to secluded caves but beware swimming in the big waves! Our brave little girls enjoyed swimming with their kick board. Take a picnic to Treymayne Quay with a lovely walk back through the woods for the less sleepy; and be sure to jump in the Helford River! Dinner at the Prince of Wales pub was lovely; and Fish & Chips on the green in Gweek on Wednesday nights - with the Gweek silver band a fun surprise. Rarely do we promise with certainty to return, but this is Cornwall at her beautiful best. Thank you Linda & Robin, the love & care you have poured into Rock Cottage is obvious everywhere. Thank you for our little lovely chapter in the great history of this beautiful place; and thank you for our biscuits & anchor in the mud. Tacking up to Gweek in a gusty breeze was a real thrill with not a paddle in sight! We would love to return. Hope to see you again. Good luck. Best wishes x
JP, Emma, Ellie & Clara (London) July 2019

We enjoyed our stay here for 10 days from the 19th to the 29th June.  Love the views, absolutely gorgeous.  All amenities you could want for your holiday home.  Loved feeding the birds, using our kayaks on the water.  We rowed/paddled to Helford and back.  Highly recommend the fabulous pub.  We must say The Ship Inn does the best fish and chips we have ever tasted in our lives.  Had great weather which was unexpected.  We head home with tans, feeling fully relaxed with great memories.
Kelly, Rich, Graham & Ann plus Sonny who loved his treats (The Cotswolds) June 2019

We've had a lovely week at Rock Cottage, enjoying the fabulous views and watching all the wildlife.  The boys enjoyed using 'Peggy' and especially loved catching buckets full of crabs!
Highly recommend The Ship Inn in the village, fantastic food and a very warm welcome.  We would also recommend a visit to Rick Stein at Porthleven, again superb food and amazing service.
The boys have experienced Coasteering on Lizard Point which they thoroughly enjoyed, this was booked through Lizard Adventure and definitely worth a go!  We spent 2 days at Poldhu Cove whilst the boys learnt to surf.  Fantastic experience and booked through Dan Joel Surf School.
Thank you to Robin and Linda for a lovely, relaxing holiday at your beautiful cottage, also for the lovely basket of goodies on arrival.  Ludo enjoyed his treats too! x
Gareth, Gillian, Sam & Will and Ludo the Miniature Schnauzer (Doncaster, South Yorkshire) May Half Term 2019

Thank you very much Linda for the lovely welcome.  Another wonderful week at Rock Cottage - possibly our 9th.  Orchids at the bottom of the garden.  Perfect weather for walking and plenty of good places for lunch and tea.  Fantastic wild flowers.  Excellent supper at The Ship Inn. Mawgan shop very useful.  Thanks again.  We hope to come back.
Miles & Jill (Northallerton) 18 to 25 May 2019

Our 2nd visit to Rock Cottage and our first time in Cornwall during peak bluebell time.  For the best bluebell show in the UK, visit Enys Garden near Penryn!  We had plenty of sun but there was no escape from the cold east wind, even on west facing coves unfortunately. The Ship Inn is wonderful, we just wished it opened more.  The Cottage was as pristine as ever.
Rob & Lisa (Leicestershire) 5 to 18 May 2019

Thank you once again for making our holiday the best ever!  This is now officially our home away from home.  Casey in tears because we are leaving.  This place is just the BEST and you do so much to accommodate us.  THANK YOU!!  See you next year.
Angie, Neil & Casey (Wiltshire), w/e 4th May 2019

As soon as we opened the door we felt instantly welcome and were amazed by the wonderful view we had - no matter how the weather was.
Everything looked even better in real life, compared to the photos we saw online.  We really enjoyed watching both sunrises and sunsets over the river, made a little trip with "Peggy" and of course experienced a lot of Cornwall.  There are so many stunning places near Rock Cottage and the folder we found in the chest of the living room helped us with choosing where to go next.
The whole house was decorated with fresh flowers and everything seems to be made with a lot of love.
We are looking forward to another stay at Rock Cottage!  Thank you Linda and Robin.  Kind regards
Sabine & Louisa + Fine (Germany) April 2019

Another lovely week here at Rock Cottage.  We have done some beautiful walks, very bracing at times as it has been rather windy.  The walk from Porthleven to Praa Sands was fabulous.  We feel we need to return to Rock Cottage in the summer months to enjoy the garden and boat but the views from the kitchen window watching the wildlife are wonderful any time of the year!  Once again lovely meal at The Ship Inn.  Thank you Linda & Robin.
Andrew & Debbie (Stoke-on-Trent) March 2019

We all enjoyed the stay in this beautiful place. It's a real peace of mind. House was very clean and all what you need to expect from it. We love it!
Sebastian & Family (London) February 2019

Top location at the top of Mawgan Creek - cottage with its own decked landing stage. Family spent the week in racing kayaks and SUPs exploring the river between Helford and Gweek. Felt like gone back in time - felt connected with the flood and ebb of the tide. Sheltered, great bird life, wildlife and amazing sunsets on the water. Tidal creek dries out at low water but we got in & out inside 3 hours either side of HW. Recommended. Seal Sanctuary at Gweek also worth visit- food at Ship Mawgan.
Jon, Lynn, Annabel & Alice (Dorset) October 2018

We had a lovely stay at Rock Cottage - enjoying particularly the view of the river, spotting which birds were visiting and crabbing off the jetty.  Thank you very much for thinking of all the home touches which left us wanting for nothing.  It was a joy to come back to the cottage after our explorations in the local area.  Our highlights were visiting St Michael's Mount, the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum and the Leech Pottery.  We hope to be back soon.  Thanks again.
Jeevani, Tamsin & Alexander (London) September 2018

Thank you Linda and Robin - what a beautiful little cottage!  And so perfectly equipped and prepared.  Like so many other guests, we spent a good part of every morning and evening just looking at the view, and enjoying seeing so many birds - birds we don't see in rural Hampshire.  Highlight was the Osprey on our last evening - sitting at the top of a dead tree, then diving into the channel to catch a fish!  We would definitely recommend a visit to the Lost Gardens of Heligan.  The gardens at St Michael's Mount were also surprisingly good - all in  and around the very rocky slopes on the east side.  The local pub/restaurant is excellent, but it does fill up quickly!  The Black Swan in Gweek is also very good and Mawgan Stores is not to be missed - great local produce and well chosen wines.
John & Beth (Romsey, Hampshire) September 2018

Rock Cottage is a very special place.  This is our fourth visit and we love it here even more than before.  I arrived before the others and spent a few minutes sitting on the perfectly-placed bench looking down the creek - the deep silence was a memorable experience.
The cottage, as ever, is immaculate and charming, and the garden beautifully planned and maintained.  We have been out in Peggy every day but one, and yesterday we rowed all the way down to Helford Passage on the morning tide, walked to Trebah Gardens and then rowed back to Rock Cottage on the evening tide. A lovely way to discover the beauty of the Helford River!  We have also had memorable days at St Michael's Mount, Poldhu, exploring the Trelowarren woods and the ever-astounding Fogou, at Kynance Cove and Lizard Point and the lovely beach at Coverack.  We still have some of the very tarty elderflower cordial kindly left for us but the delicious home-baked loaf and the saffron loaf and clotted cream have long gone - much enjoyed by all!  Thank you very much indeed Linda and Robin, for making this place so special and allowing us to stay here.
Jeremy, Judith, Michael and Rachael, (Reading, Berkshire) August/September 2018

What a wonderful cottage, with amazing surroundings.  We have never visited Cornwall before but Rock Cottage truly made our holiday worthwhile.  We have visited some wonderful beaches, coves and villages whilst here, had some lovely pasties and meals too.  Highlights have been: crabbing (lots!), train to St Ives from Lelant Saltings and Pedn Vounder Beach - like you are in the Carribbean - wonderful! Thank you for sharing this magical place with us, we will not forget our time at Rock Cottage.
Jenny, Richard, James, Sophie & Megan and Loki (miniature Labradoodle). Borrowash, Derbyshire, August 2018

Well, what a wonderful cottage, with a position and views to dream for.  Evening dinners gazing over the estuary watching the wading birds move in will live long in the memory.  Two of my highlights were watching the grey mullet come in with the tide - standing on the boat jetty they gave magnificent views.  Also some of the birdlife - Green Sandpipers and Greenshank and Whimbrel were special and there were always Godwits, Redshank and Shelduck around.  The boys?  Well they did their best to empty the Helford River of crabs catching over 200 of them in one session.  Thank you also for the warm welcome; we have had a wonderful holiday.
Michael, Rachel, Ben, Sam, James & Edward (Lee Common, Bucks) August 2018

Nice welcome with the goodie box and milk and cream in the fridge.  Also a doggy treat for Dudley ...Thank Q
Beautiful, restful location and 'Peggy' was great!! Josh caught two full buckets of crabs in minutes - 95 crabs in total!
Ben caught a Bream and Josh caught a Bass, both returned to the creek.
Visited Church Cove, Kynance Cove, Helford and Falmouth - all very interesting.  Mevagissey
very pretty - we had a 30 minute coastal boat trip - Dudley not impressed!!  Ben, John and Alan had a 20 minute Rib-boat ride - Great!!!  Visited the Eden Project on a very hot sunny day.  All the pubs were good for food and welcoming - we were able to take Dudley inside, where he lay very quietly under the table.
Extremely hard to get going in the mornings as we breakfast'd on the terrace just gazing and listening!!
Pete, Chris, Ben, Josh, Alan, Karen and Dudley (chocolate Labrador), Poole, Dorset, July 2018

Absolutely lovely stay.  Peggy was glorious and weather fantastic.  Had dinner twice at the Ship Inn and was wonderful every time.  The cottage was lovely and the swingball was entertaining.  A beautiful holiday and we hope to come again soon.  Thank you so much Linda and Robin for a lovely holiday.
Victoria, Michael, Eleanor and Tiggy (Kent), July 2018

Dear Linda. It was lovely in the Rock Cottage.  We slept really good in the beds and at 5.00 p.m. we ate scones - delicious!  At breakfast we watched the birds.  Cornwall is so beautiful.  We have enjoyed our week here.  Thank you!  Hope to see you again next year!
Carolina, Laura, Michael and Katrin (Vienna, Austria) July 2018

We've been coming to Cornwall for 50 years and have never had such amazing weather - for the whole week!  This is a truly beautiful setting for such a lovely cottage, and it has everything you could want.
Jan and David (Newton Abbot, Devon) June 2018

Excellent accommodation - what else is there to say! Perfect in every respect - Peaceful, secluded and a view which is hard to beat. The bird life is second to none and ideal for children to learn to identify each species - keep feeding! Thank you Linda & Robin for all the goodies on arrival and the immaculately clean cottage - it really is a credit to all your hard work!
Neil & Sarah, Polly & Archie (Matlock, Derbyshire) June 2018

We are sad to go!  What a special place this is.  We will never forget this fantastic holiday and we will be back.  As well as the beautiful setting and comfy cottage, we love all the extra things you do: food for swans and birds.  So kind and thoughtful.  Casey loved reading the books in the children's room too.  We did manage to leave the cottage a few times: Trebah Gardens, Kynance Cove, Poldhu Cove and St Ives, all our fave places, but coming "home" to Rock Cottage was always the best part. Thank you!
Angie, Neil & Casey (Sidmouth, Devon) May 2018

What a wonderful cottage with spectacular views.  We spent hours sat watching the comings and goings of all the birds.  Thank you for making our holiday a home from home.  We shall be back again.
Gary and Ali (Winchcombe, Glos) May 2018

Our second visit to Rock Cottage and hopefully not our last.  Thank you Linda and everyone else that makes this beautiful cottage such a wonderful place to stay.  We must say a big thank you for our Anniversary card, it was much appreciated.  Also a big thank you for remembering I was gluten free.  The cake was a lovely surprise and much enjoyed!
We still cannot get enough of that view; it is just so amazing.  We love the peace and quiet and all the wonderful wildlife that frequents the garden.  Still didn't see a kingfisher this year, but maybe next time.
Our favourite places have to be the Lizard Peninsula and all the walks around there, especially to Kynance Cove, which is not to be missed.  Also recommend the train journey from Leland Saltings to St Ives on the St Ives Bay line - such wonderful views and you can go backwards and forwards as much as you like in a day for £4 each, easy to park too.  Trebah Gardens is a must do, especially on a sunny day.  Porthleven is great for watching the sea.  Hope to return again one day soon.  Thank you.
Cindy & Martin (Lincolnshire) April 2018

What a wonderful house, a real home away from home.  Linda was so welcoming; thank you for the lovely welcome food.
Fantastic views coupled with some really stunning weather.  We love this part of Cornwall, in particular the beaches.  Thank you for a lovely time.
Woj, Angela, Max, Lucia & Baby Bella (Bromley, Kent) April 2018

A timeless spot perched on a tranquil and everchanging back drop.  We have loved watching all of nature's goings on and getting away from it all.  Absolutely idyllic!
We have made the most of our week and seen so much of the coast.  Porthleven, Kynance Cove and Mousehole being amongst just some of our favourite stop offs.  The dogs particularly enjoyed Penrose and the walk through the woods, past the lake to Loe Bar.
Thank you so much for an escape to the country to remember.
Stella, Alex & Victoria (St Albans, Herts.) April 2018

Well what can we say that hasn't already been said before. Beautiful cottage, lots of character with such an amazing view.  We have stayed in many cottages over the years with sea views but the view here is something special.  We would love to return again in the summer so that we could appreciate it in a different season and use Peggy the boat.  The weather has been especially kind to us considering the previous week when Cornwall experienced the 'Beast from the East' and Storm Emma.
We have done some good walking in some lovely spring sunshine although some footpaths have been very wet due to lots of previous rain.  We enjoyed a wonderful meal at The Ship Inn and also at The Prince of Wales in St Martin.
Thank you Linda for the use of your beautiful cottage and the welcome cream tea.
Debbie and Andrew & Mr Jones (the dog) (Madeley, Crewe, Cheshire). March 2018

.... and so another wonderful week at Rock Cottage is almost at an end.  We have had changeable weather but it hasn't stopped us enjoying our time away in our wonderful "second home".
We have revisited familiar haunts and took a trip to St Ives by train from Lelant Saltings for the first time.  Lovely views and no fighting for a car park space.  We plan to walk there next time and take the train back.
There is not much we can say that hasn't been said before.  We absolutely LOVE Rock Cottage.  We rarely stay anywhere more than once but Rock Cottage is most definitely the exception.
Many thanks to both Linda and Robin for all you do to make everything so perfect. With love
Glenn and Julie (Essex) October 2017

We have had a wonderful relaxing week (and don't feel ready to leave!).  The cottage is in a fantastic location and we have visited many beaches with Ollie - Gunwalloe,  Praa Sands and Kynance Cove were particular favourites.  We also went cycling on the trails at Penrose with Ollie and we've eaten far too many pasties!  Ann's Pasties at The Lizard are delicious of course, and the pasties at Gear Farm are highly recommended.
We loved having use of Peggy and we also brought our own stand-up paddle boards, and it was a real luxury to be able to use them right on our doorstep.  In between going out and paddle boarding on the river, it was wonderful to just sit in the kitchen and watch out of the window - we'll miss this!
We had dinner at The Ship Inn on our first night and enjoyed it so much that we ate there three times and had their take away fish and chips too.
Thanks for the welcome gift of cream tea, bread and biscuits, much appreciated and Ollie loved his treats. We will definitely be back.
Paul & Emma and Ollie (Dorset) October 2017

I book marked Rock Cottage on my computer knowing we'd visit here sometime and we were definitely not disappointed.  David and I bought our two little terriers who absolutely loved the fabulous beach walks.
Rock Cottage had everything that we needed, couldn't have asked for more.  The moment we walked through the green gate, the view of the river just hit us, coming in October when the trees were just starting to turn.  We were so lucky with the weather.  A visit to Helford is a must.  The Shipwrights Arms was well worth a visit also the Prince of Wales, Newtown in St Martin.
Thank you Linda for letting us use Rock Cottage with all the finishing touches of fresh flowers, tea and scones and the doggy treats.
Bridget and David (Ellisfield, Basingstoke) October 2017.

Thank you very much for the welcome.  Another wonderful week at Rock Cottage (probably our 7th).  Excellent weather with just two wet afternoons.  September seems to be good time to be in Cornwall: good weather, not too crowded and places to visit still open.Ourselves and the two poodles have enjoyed some wonderful walks.  Thank you again very much.  Miles and Jill (Northallerton) September 2017

We've had the most magical time here at Rock Cottage - two weeks of waking up to that breathtaking view and day after day of exploring this stunning part of the UK.
Our children have memories that we know will last a lifetime - my husband came to the Lizard when he was our son's age and he has never forgotten it.
As an author, I've got so much inspiration and I will love writing about my next characters who grew up here on the Helford River.
Many thanks and I'm sure we'll see you again soon!
Paige, Greg, Indy and Idha (Cambridge) August 2017

What a blissful week at Rock Cottage, thank you!  We have all loved pottering about in Peggy and enjoyed the peaceful creek.  There was great excitement catching lots of crabs from the jetty.  We've had lots of days out at the beaches - Gunwalloe (Church Cove) was a favourite with the boys who played happily for hours in the stream on the beach, building dams and splashing around.  We swam at the beach at Trebah Gardens with its beautiful clear water.  We had a delicious lunch at The Ferry Boat Inn in Helford Passage, sitting outside overlooking the beach and over the river - a gorgeous spot.
Kynance Cove was spectacular.  On a slightly grey day we went to Falmouth and took the ferry over to St Mawes for lunch which was a fun trip.
The cottage has been great and a lovely peaceful retreat.  An exceptional view and it felt wonderfully private - what a spot!
Louis, Clova, Pico & Ludo (Hammersmith, London) August 2017

Wonderful week.  That view is going to take a lot to beat!  Fabulous coastal walks - enjoyed every minute.  Thank you.
The Terry Family (Canterbury) July 2017

The object of our week here in Cornwall was to relax.  We certainly did that.  Rock Cottage is a wonderful old property in the most scenic of locations.  We were extraordinarily lucky to be blessed with such great weather and we leave refreshed, relaxed and quite tanned. Thank you.
Simon & Karen (Shropshire) June 2017

Thank you for a wonderful relaxing break.  The weather has been stunning and the cottage and views have been amazing! Watching the wildlife in the garden has been so relaxing.  The area is a delight to explore being very central making it accessible to all parts of Cornwall; visits to St Ives, Lands End and Lizard Point being just a few.
To all who follow us, we hope you leave as relaxed as we do.  Sully (the dog) longs to return very soon.
Norman & Julie (Lincolnshire) June 2017

It will be incredibly difficult to summarise a glorious week's worth of adventures here at Rock Cottage into a short paragraph!
On arrival we were greeted by views of the river and an abundance of wildlife that has kept us busy guessing and naming throughout the week. Lily has loved learning all the new bird names and can't wait to tell her teachers at school.
On the wet and drizzly evenings we played endlessly with the board games and completed two x 500 jigsaws!
Peggy was used and we very much loved viewing Rock Cottage from the waterside perspective.  We could have easily stayed here another week and never be bored!
We cannot wait to return next year with Stephen's parents to show them this magical place.  Many, many thanks to you both.
Rachel, Stephen, Lily, Sandra & David (Donegal, Ireland & Formby, Merseyside) May Half Term 2017

Carolyn has just returned from bailing Peggy... and once again decided this is a magical place. Maybe it's the "messing about in boats."  The property and setting of Rock Cottage could not be prettier.  We have difficulty leaving to sight-see, but the cottage was a welcome sight upon our return from our adventures.
We came at this time to enjoy the wildflowers - and we were not disappointed.  Little did we know we were surrounded by them just outside our door.
The cottage is well stocked - kitchen utensils; good library; lovely linens.
We enjoyed a meal at the Prince of Wales but didn't have a chance to try The Ship Inn.  We did enjoy the Ship Inn's frozen entrees (Freshhh?) at Mawgan Stores.
Thank you Linda and Robin for sharing your beautiful property.  We appreciate your help when it was needed and all the little extras that made our stay memorable.
Laddie & Carolyn (Cedar, Michigan, USA), 22 April to 13 May

Wonderful time at your cottage - met all of my expectations!  So much to see within a few miles.  We were out in Peggy as soon as we had unloaded.  Weather was wonderful too - sunshine every day.
Take away fish and chips from The Ship were some of the best I have ever had.  The batter melts in your mouth - mind you, we were very hungry.
Thank you for the Easter egg and other goodies.  George secretly worked his way through everything.  Thank you for a lovely holiday.
George & Helen (Stoke on Trent) April 2017

Once again a lovely week at Rock Cottage.  Managed to get out in Peggy and savour the stillness of the creek.  The birdsong was particularly lovely this year.  The primroses were delightful and we are sorry that we will miss the bluebells and the hedgerows as they promise to be gorgeous.  Thank you Linda and family for providing for our needs; we've had a restful and enjoyable week.  Our son and partner enjoyed it and loved the location.  We had a very nice roast on Sunday at The Prince of Wales in St Martin, Newtown. The local shop were very friendly and had lots of groceries to choose from.  We hope to see you again and are very sad to leave.  Thank you.
Chris & Tony (Deal, Kent) Easter 2017

Another break at Rock Cottage and as usual a lovely stay.  The view always takes your breath away after a 7 hour car drive!! Had a lovely Mothers Day lunch at the Shipwrights in Helford.
Thank you again for allowing us to share this lovely cottage.  The welcome pack was appreciated especially the dog chews!!
Carol & Roger (High Halden, Kent) March 2017

Wonderful cottage, fantastic location.  Will definitely come here again.  Relaxing, peaceful and fabulous.
Lesley & Pete (Andover) March 2017

We've had an excellent few days here - thank you! A wonderful location in which to celebrate my 50th birthday.  I have particularly enjoyed watching the bird life and the changing scenery.  The boys have loved surfing - great beaches.  The food at The Ship Inn was truly amazing last night.  The Prince of Wales also highly recommended.
We'd love to come back some time, especially to enjoy the creek from the boat.
Sarah, Rohan & Josh (Bath) February 2017

Lovely relaxing stay this past week.  Plenty to do and see and Rock Cottage is a good base to explore this part of Cornwall.  We would like to return one day - maybe in the late spring to benefit from seeing all the flowers and extra wildlife.
Be sure to explore the book shelf and small oak chest in the lounge for lots of information, games, puzzles, etc. plus binoculars (we only discovered them on our last day)!! Many thanks Linda and Family.
Sue & Paul, (Torquay) February 2017

I loved the stay at Rock Cottage and I seemed to sleep better than anywhere else.  The view was fabulous and we went on fantastic walks.  The garden was great and full of hiding places too!
Hettie (age 9), David, Beatrice, Felix & Ada (London). New Year 2016/17

Once again, we've had a lovely Christmas at Rock Cottage. Wonderful wildlife and an ever changing vista. Highly recommend Harbour Lights in Falmouth, the fish and chips are excellent.

Many thanks to Linda and Robin for making our stay very pleasant.  Thank you for the basket of goodies and the chocolates under the tree!  Thanks again.
Maurice, Dawn, Becky & Abi (Flintshire, N Wales). Christmas 2016

Very enjoyable stay in a wonderful location... very well located for rest of Cornwall and spotlessly clean!!... particularly enjoyed the wildlife and the views across the creek.
Andrew, Mary, Karen & Archie (October Half Term 2016)

Another lovely stay in this idyllic place. The location and the comforts are everything.  Thank you for all the attention to detail and your kindness when I was feeling below par!  Two brilliant meals at The Ship Inn - wow, I wish that they were in our village.  Many thanks. xx
Duncan & Jill (South Somerset) October 2016

Many thanks. It is a unique experience staying at RC!  The silence, the stars, the birds, the beauty of the river and the place and the isolation...
David & Dawn (Lymington) September 2016

A great stay in a well equipped cottage in a beautiful location.  We used Peggy several times, also our own canoe. Had an excellent meal at The Ship Inn also in the Ferryboat in Helford Passage.  The Shipwrights Arms in Helford, not so good.
Greg & Maggie (Porthcawl, S Wales) September 2016

Wonderful, warm and welcoming cottage, kept to a high standard, which enabled us to feel relaxed and refreshed.  The window in the kitchen gave even those of us not brave enough to boat, the opportunity to appreciate the creek.  The rowers reported that the ingenious running line system made taking Peggy out a breeze.  We also enjoyed good value chips from The Ship Inn and pasties from Gear Farm.  As members of the National Trust we were able to take full advantage of both educational and recreational sites.  The congregation at the local church were very friendly and it was a beautiful simple service.  Church Cove was by far the nicest beach and having the lifeguards in attendance made us feel safe.  We were impressed by how clear and thoughtfully laid out everything was - even the BBQ.  We have tried to leave everything as we found it.  Overall, a lovely place to stay, in which we had a great time.
Clements Family (Essex) September 2016

We very much enjoyed our stay at Rock Cottage (4th visit) and Peggy was great.  Also, we had fun walking, cycling and especially swimming at beaches like Poldhu and Kynance Cove.  The view from the cottage is beautiful.  I would highly recommend this cottage.
Jeremy, Judith, Michael & Rachael (Reading) August 2016.

We enjoyed one fantastic week at Rock Cottage.  The weather was changeable but we made the best.  Thank you Linda and Robin for a lovely stay here.  Peggy was fun and we loved the swimming. The cottage is absolutely amazing.  We've tried to balance our time with walking and sightseeing with spending enough time here.
This cottage has everything you need especially the view out of the kitchen is beautiful.  None of us want to leave.  The bread, tea and scones were a lovely welcome.  Rock Cottage is a wonderful well equipped cottage and we all enjoyed our stay.  Thank you Linda and Robin.
Luise, Henny, Marion and Frank (Germany)  July/August 2016

As soon as we stepped into Rock Cottage we knew it was top quality and a very special place to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary.  We had such a warm welcome from Linda and loved the personal touches of fresh flowers and a basket of goodies, all of which we have much enjoyed.  Thank you so much for the anniversary card and book, what a lovely surprise.  We have been so comfortable here and the fabulous unique view has given us endless pleasure.  We have enjoyed exploring out and about and have particularly loved the coastal walks at the Lizard and at Church Cove and also beautiful Helford; and of course our trips out in Peggy. We have had delicious lunches at The Prince of Wales at Newtown and the Wheelwright pub at Helford.
Our holiday has gone by far too quickly but we are returning home relaxed and happy with wonderful memories of our wonderful holiday at Rock Cottage.  We do hope to return to this special cottage one day.
John and Julia (Letchworth Garden City, Herts), June 2016

Our second stay at Rock Cottage and we've had another wonderful holiday. Once again we've been entertained for hours by the wildlife in the garden, and on the creek.  Huge variety of birds on the bird table and the swan family have visited the jetty every day.  The 3 cygnets have really grown since we got here - must be all that granary bread.  We've also seen foxes and a badger, using a night camera.
Highly recommend the take away fish and chips from The Ship Inn.  The best way to walk there is along the woodland path which starts next to the fallen tree trunk by the bridge.  We have had some delicious meals at The Prince of Wales pub - about 5 minutes drive turning left from the cottage.  They do an excellent Sunday lunch.
The cottage is so comfortable and well equipped, and having Peggy is such a bonus.  Linda and Robin - you are the perfect hosts.  We loved the delicious goodies and the fresh flowers.  See you next year.xx
Paul & Viv (Headcorn, Kent) June 2016

We have had a really good time here.  It's been AMAZING!  We've been crabbing, been to Kynance Cove, Mullion Cove, Rick Steins Restaurant (x 2), Helford village, Helford Passage, the Lizard, Falmouth (for shopping and fishing) and Glendurgan Gardens.
The swans pass the jetty at least twice a day.  You can go crabbing down at the jetty when the tide is up. Isla aged 10 years.
Trefor, Gill, Steve, Helen, Louis and Isla (Cheddar, Somerset), May/June 2016

"Like a kiss on the forehead to awaken from sleep, Like the first letters home from class one you will keep, Like the breakfast bacon sizzling on the kitchen hob, Like the bread rising in the oven and coffee from its pod.
So the Cottage on the rock assails then senses, Resurrecting them from urban pretences.
Eyes observing sunrise, cloud and tide, Nose hunting the so soft air, nostrils flaring wide, Ears decoding birdsong in multi channel chorus, Skin caressed by dew dripping gently from the forest, The taste of Cornwall on the Helford River, Rock Cottage, timeless edifice to natures endeavour".
Adrian, Debbie & Mia (Chatham, Kent) May 2016

Absolutely loved our stay at Rock Cottage.  I know I said when I came here, if I owned this, I wouldn't want to share it with anyone! I am so pleased that Robin and Linda have shared this beautiful place.
Thank you for all the homely touches and the basket of goodies on arrival.  Sad I didn't get to taste your lovely bread, but it was appreciated by all the other members of the party.
It is a birdwatcher's paradise, just didn't want to move from the kitchen window but the trip to Kynance Cove, made it worth it.  I will go away with happy memories and some stunning photographs which I will frame as a permanent reminder.
Cindy & Martin (Marshchapel, Lincolnshire) May 2016

Only one word to describe our time here at Rock Cottage and that is Fantastic!  What a beautiful part of the country.  We have had a lovely time and visited lots of places.  Would come back again anytime.
Thank you both for our warm welcome to your holiday home.  Just have to tell everyone how lovely your home made bread tasted - it was really very good!
Lesley and Keith (Caistor, Lincolnshire) May 2016

Another glorious week in our 'home from home'.  Don't want to leave but can only do so in knowing we have next years holiday here to look forward to.  Once again Glenn has been using his spotting scope - set up in the kitchen and we were fortunate in seeing the green woodpecker, who has been heard lately according to the book.  Thanks so much for all the extras - much appreciated.  So sad to leave but looking forward to our next visit.
Glenn & Julie (Essex) April 2016

Merci beaucoup pour la magnifique cottage.
Fontaine Family (France) April 2016

This cottage is wonderful, and Linda and Robin are both so welcoming and helpful, our week was amazing from start to finish. The cottage itself was really well equipped, everything you could need was there, and of a very high quality. The bed was really comfortable, all the rooms were clean and beautifully decorated, with really thoughtful touches like fresh flowers, books, maps, board games, DVDs etc., as well as delicious homemade bread and cakes on arrival. The location of the cottage is idyllic, superbly placed with a breath-taking view across the river, really lovely local walks and places to visit. All in all a fantastic holiday, and we will certainly be returning to this cottage again.
Mandy, Mike & Pepper (Dorset) Easter 2016

We have had a lovely week in Rock Cottage - what a beautiful home!  Thank you for the little extra touches that helped to make our holiday.  Aidan especially loved his bath and bath toys!  We have had pretty good weather and have enjoyed days out in St Ives and exploring the villages of the Lizard. The Ship Inn up the road is fantastic for a meal out.  We hope to be back!
Stephanie, Sean, Baby Aidan, Paul & Caroline (Bedfordshire) March 2016

We've had a lovely week here.  Thank you so much for all the trouble you took to make us feel welcome: the cream tea, the homemade bread, biscuits, milk and all the gorgeous flowers: they were all really appreciated.  Happy 2016 from us both.
Jane and Bill (Buckland in the Moor) February 2016.

Such a lovely relaxing place.  Light, spacious, warm, clean and so well-equipped!  You have thought of everything to make it a very special home from home.  We loved our lazy mornings and getting up to that view.  Even the weather did not interfere.  We had a couple of excellent meals at The Ship Inn in the village - brilliant food and welcome.  We would also recommend Ben's Cornish Kitchen in Marazion - v.v.  nice - but do book. Loved the village shop too!  Many thanks and see you again I hope.
Jill and Duncan (Somerset) New Year 2016.

Dear Linda & Robin, firstly I would like to thank you for the warm welcome and the lovely treats you had left us, what a lovely surprise! Cairo especially enjoyed his chicken doggy treats.  The cottage is lovely and clean, quaint and very charming but what did it for us was the stunning location and views across the creek, truly AMAZING.  We spent many hours just watching the birds and wildlife and just taking in the views staring out on to the Creek.  I could feel my stresses of normal life just melt away.  We spent lots of time out in the garden and upon the jetty with our dog, he would agree it's been a wonderful holiday. We visited quite a few places but our favourite was St Ives.  It was a lovely warmish sunny dry day.  We strolled along the beach with our dog and walking along the cliffs was gorgeous.  Thanks for a memorable Christmas.
Leila, Michael and Cairo (Sheffield, S. Yorkshire).
Christmas 2015

Rock Cottage, what can I say?  What an amazing experience.  The cottage is in a perfect location: trees, wildlife, river, views and quiet area.  Waking up in the mornings to the view out of the kitchen window was incredible.  Me and my girl friend spent most days crabbing and fishing when the tide was in. When the tide was out, we visited some lovely places; Pendennis Castle, Porthleven, St. Ives, Newquay.  We also visited some great beaches: Gunwalloe, Praa Sands, Porthminster, Perranporth, Godrevy, Whitesand Bay and Kynance Cove.
We had a lovely warm welcoming to Rock Cottage thanks to Linda and we will be returning.
Jacob & Laura (Coventry). November 2015

Dear Linda and Robin. Thank you so much for a superb month in Rock Cottage.  We have absolutely loved living here and it has truly become a "home away from home".  It will remain a special place in our hearts always and it would not surprise if the children venture back here of their own accord once they are adults.  There was so much to explore and enjoy outside and the inside was so comfortable and delightful.  We will also never forget that we spent our shared birthdays here.  Thank you with all of our hearts for making our birthdays so special!
A wonderful place and we are honoured to have spent time here.  Thank you.
The Marshall Family (Queensland, Australia). November 2015

Thanks to Linda and Robin for being so welcoming. The scones and bread were a very welcome gift.  You have thought of everything in the cottage, it is well equipped and very homely.  The view was breath taking when we first arrived and we haven't tired of it, in fact it surprises us every day with the changing scenery and the sound of the birds.  Exploring in Peggy has been great, each day we've made time for her, (according to tide times).  Seeing the swans, egrets and other wildlife is a treat.  We had fun crabbing off the jetty and seeing what birds take the seeds in the garden.  Not only is the cottage perfect, it's in a great location to see the area.  We walked the Frenchman's Creek, visited the Gardens of Heligan, Mullion and Kynance Cove which is beautiful.  Mawgan stores up the road is well stocked if you need anything and a meal at The Ship Inn is a must! The food is beyond restaurant quality.  We have celebrated a special birthday here this week and we couldn't have spent it in a better place.  (Thanks for the gift)! We will most definitely be back to this special place.  It has become our favourite location.  Until next time!  Many thanks.
Stacey & James (Manchester). October 2015

Our 7th visit to Rock Cottage.  Thank you again very much for the wonderful welcome.  We have been very fortunate to have had excellent weather for visiting gardens and for walking.  The Hydrangeas are only just past their best.  We have enjoyed sleeping in the Garden Room and waking up to the view down the creek.  We hope to come back again.
Miles and Jill (Northallerton, Yorkshire). September 2015

Had an amazing week of relaxing in beautiful surroundings and accommodation. Views are spectacular and use of the boat allows you to get out on the river for a leisurely row or like me early morning fishing. Great location for local amenities and attractions, best of all very close to all the beaches on the lizard peninsula. Loved the holiday and will definitely rebook this cottage again and will recommend to all my family and friends.
Stuart, Rebecca and Family (Devizes, Wiltshire) August 2015

We have stayed in Cornwall lots of times, however, Rock Cottage is now our favourite place to stay.  We have spent most of our time in the garden and have yet to tire of the view.  Never met so many crabs and seen the kids so excited when pulling in one after the other down on the jetty.  We loved the privacy allowing us to relax and enjoy the garden and cottage.  Thank you for our welcome message, delicious scones (yum) and fresh bread.  We hope the cottage and area never change and hope we are able to see it all again next year.
Bonny, Tat, Corey, Lucia, Lacey and Phillip (Cardiff, South Wales) July 2015

Second time around and again all was perfect.  We have had a tiring year so for us, Rock Cottage is paradise.  The little touches and giant effort Linda and Robin put in, to make our stay amazing really show.  This year we have fed the swans, birds, crabbed, read the books on the area and cooked lovely meals.  Try Jumunjy's in Ruan if you like Thai, you have to collect but so so worth it for authentic fresh food.  You may get lost looking for it.  The Black Swan, top service, will cook to your requirements as well.  Fab food.  Best cream tea, (ignore the exterior), Mullion Cafe.  Crab sandwiches here are good too. But I recommend eating here, you won't beat the view!  Bats and owls at dusk is a sight.

Our memories are so fond of Rock Cottage, we leave a little of our heart here and one day hope to bring our family to share this little piece of Cornish heaven.  Thank you Linda.  Everything is so so perfect.  Flowers blooming, hope they get watered.
Jo and Chris (Peterborough), June 2015

We have enjoyed every minute of our first stay in this fabulous cottage - so much so that we have joined the merry band of Rock Cottage Regulars and have already booked for two weeks next year. Linda - you are the perfect hostess - we've felt really spoilt.  Its all the thoughtful little touches around the place that makes it feel like a proper home rather than just a holiday cottage. I could go on and on about the breathtaking view and how much we love Peggy and all of the great things to do and see in this area but sadly time is running short now and we want to make the most of our last few hours here.  Goodbye beautiful Rock Cottage - see you next year. xxx
Viv and Paul (Headcorn, Kent). June 2015

We had a truly fantastic time.  Your property is superbly kept and in a stunning setting!  We will certainly be thinking of coming back.
Adam, Sally, Joshua & Jamie (Ticehurst, East Sussex) May Half Term 2015

So far we seem to be the first guests from Switzerland - what we very much enjoy is the coast and had some great walks there (Helston to Mullion Cove, around Lizard Point, Porthallow to Helford and Frenchman's Creek and back).  Linda's homemade bread made lovely sandwiches (thanks) and coming back to the cozy and comfortable cottage was always a pleasure. Rose Marie was always the one to think of the birds' breakfast, too, so we had great fun watching these all going for the birdseed and the peanuts.  We also enjoyed a lovely lazy day around the cottage where our washing was drying in the breeze.  Loved cooking here; the kitchen is really well equipped!  Will miss the view on the creek, ever changing with the tides, and can thoroughly recommend the view from the most southerly cafe in Lizard. Thank you, Linda and Robin, for this wonderful place!
Brigitta and Rosemarie, (Zurich), May/June 2015

Once again a wonderful week.  Weather a bit 'hit and miss' but that never bothers us as we are so comfortable here.  We never want to leave - but away we must, but we will be back.  Thank you Linda and Co for making us so welcome as always. Will miss Cornwall dreadfully! We so enjoyed watching the birds and egrets as always. New decor very nice! Bye for now.
Chris & Tone (Deal, Kent), May 2015

We really enjoyed our stay in Rock Cottage.  The view is very beautiful and waking up every day to many different birds sounds was wonderful. The Cottage has everything and is very comfortable and cosy with flowers in all rooms.  During our holiday we visited many places including the Lizard and Cadgwith.  Did a lot of geocaching, a kind of treasure hunt.  I, Mylene slept in the Garden Room and I loved it, especially the beautiful view from my bed. We had a lovely holiday at Rock Cottage and would highly recommend it.
Pieter, Marieke, Mylene (aged 15) and David. (Krimpen ord Yssel, Netherlands), April/May 2015

Thank you for a lovely stay our wedding anniversary present and the flowers! This is a great cottage and a fabulous location.  We visited lots of local villages and gardens throughout the peninsula. Lovely meal at The Ship Inn.
David & Theresa, (Gosport, Hants) April 2015

We've had a brilliant holiday with fantastic weather.  The house is lovely and the views are amazing.  We made the most of the weather and swam at Kennack and Kynance.  We also went to St Ives, Zennor (beautiful) and Glendurgan.  Rock Cottage was always lovely to return to - between us we kayaked, painted, read and hunted for Easter eggs - great garden for Easter Egg Hunt.  We've been to this area many times and will be back again. Food at The Ship Inn was excellent as were the scones, cake and easter eggs that were here when we arrived.  Would recommend to anyone.
Sarah, John, Lola, Rosa & Rosemary (Exeter, Devon & Enniskillen Co. Fermenagh)  April 2015

Warm, cosy and sparkly clean cottage. Amazing views with the binoculars in full use - who knew we would all become avid bird watchers! A special "thank you" to Linda for the lovely welcome tea, dog treats, Easter card, Simnel cake and Easter Egg - very unexpected and simply delightful as well as thoughtful. The use of Peggy was a lot of fun and even the dog enjoyed her very long swim despite the cold. Can recommend the Ship Inn up the road for great food and superb hospitality, Roskilly's Farm for the little ones, Prince of Wales pub (allow dogs) and the Mawgan Stores for quality local produce.  We have had a lovely week - so thank you - just wish we could take the view home with us.
The Gray Family (Langdon Hills, Essex) Easter 2015

Such a delightful cottage with a super view of the Creek (and its inhabitants)! Thoughtful, welcome touches around the cottage, thank you.  A complete holiday cottage close to nature and a regeneration of the calm.
Bob & Julia (Exmouth, Devon) March 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our New Year holiday at Rock Cottage, what an amazing place! The view from the kitchen and rear bedrooms is stunning and we all just loved the views of changing river and darting birds. Had a couple of great walks; Helford circular walk from the car park and also a circular walk at Kennack Sands.
We would love to come back but I tend to avoid Cornwall in the summer as it is so busy and I love the beaches in the winter when you can have them to yourself. It would be great to Kayak though.
Matt, Jennie, Peter, Ann, Jess & Jacob (Devon) January 2015

We really can't wait to come back to Rock Cottage - even Lexcey loved it. Everything was perfect Linda, so 'Thank You' and Happy New Year to you both.
Christina & Jim (Didcot, Oxfordshire) Christmas 2014

Another lovely stay at Rock Cottage - we never get tired of the view from this kitchen table!! Lovely coastal walks and the dogs have really enjoyed themselves too.  Had a lovely meal at The Ship Inn in the village - well worth a visit.  Thank you.  See you again.
Carol & Roger (High Halden, Kent) October 2014

Thank you for the lovely homemade bread and the cream tea - we thoroughly enjoyed them.  What a great week.  we had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the peaceful relaxation of Rock Cottage.  Thank you very much!
Matt, Sophie, Harry & Tilly (Henley on Thames) October 2014

Our first visit to Rock Cottage - what a beautiful, beautiful place to have spent our week.  Breakfast takes on a completely new meaning as you gaze down the creek, never tiring of its beauty.  Had some super walks particularly from Gunwalloe along the coast and of course round Mawgan itself .... oh and loved it around Helford.
The cottage was so welcoming and the cleanest holiday cottage we've ever seen.  Hopefully we will return, perhaps, despite the weather being quite kind, in sunnier times so we can enjoy the beautiful garden too. Thank you.
Judith & Nick (Aylesford, Kent) October 2014

Another wonderful stay in Rock Cottage.  Weather hasn't been great but we've made the most of the good(ish) weather we've had.  Glenn bought a spotting scope which took pride of place in the kitchen.  Took Peggy out which was fun.  Ate at Ship Inn which is recommended.  High tide at Porthleven not to be missed.  We'll be back - as Arnie said. Thanks!
Glenn and Julie (Harlow, Essex) October 2014

So lucky with everything.  The lovely cottage, what a gem.  The weather. The views. The birds. The food at the Ship Inn.  A very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable week.  Rock Cottage is very , very special.  We will be back!
Kevin & Irene and Ollie (Salisbury) October 2014  p.s. How could we forget "Peggy". We had some great fun exploring the River.  Thank you Peggy.

We had two perfect weeks here in Rock Cottage.  Thanks for the warm welcome including delicious scones and jam.  We love the look from the kitchen of the Creek during our meals.  We explored the area with a lot of hiking and the weather has been fantastic.  There is alot to see and explore in the area and Lizard Point, Lands End or St Ives are not too far away.  Rock Cottage is the perfect place!  Thanks for all and maybe we'll come back if we plan another stay in Cornwall.
Inge & Peter, Sibille & Thomas Kirchheim/Teck, Germany (September 2014)

Arrival - We met Linda who took us down to the cottage and showed us everything we needed to know and also provided us with fantastic freshly baked bread and scones which were immediately demolished by the family. Linda was really knowledge about the area and very friendly - even booking tables for us in the local pub!
The Accommodation - The Cottage and Garden Room were really well equipped and had everything we needed - although we pretty much survived by cooking in the BBQ area which also looked over the jaw dropping view, which should be attached to my recommendation. The beds were fresh and comfortable and fluffy towels provided. The garden was beautifully maintained and a great size, but for me the highlight was definitely access to 'Peggy' the rowboat - my son and I used her every day for messing about and crabbing, and you can really catch a lot of crabs (not for eating).
The Area - There is so much to do, we'll head back next year… 10 minutes' drive from Kynance Cove (which is an amazing beach), close to Falmouth, St Ives, Helston and many other lovely villages. An hour away from the Eden Project and my son also had a great day at Flambards theme park. Highly recommended.
Tim, Trang & Vinh (London) September 2014

We have had a very relaxing week here at Rock Cottage.  Kayaking on the creek was fantastic! Birdlife here amazing! Other highlights were watching the foxes in the field opposite, listening to the stags roaring late at night and the wonderful dark night sky here.  Saw lots of shooting stars!! Falmouth was foody heaven, recommend 'Elixir Deli', best soup ever. We had a delicious meal at The Ship Inn too, kids menu great value.  Pendennis Castle was well worth a visit, such amazing views.
The Cottage was very clean and comfortable and the rowing boat was the icing on the cake.  We would love to return one day.  Thank you.
James, Lisa, Jess and Harriet (Peak District, Derbyshire) September 2014

We have enjoyed our week at Rock Cottage. The views are wonderful and so much to see and do.  St Michaels Mount worth a visit, Kynance Cove lovely.  Enjoyed a very good meal at the Black Swan in Gweek. Local shop well stocked and very friendly.  Thank you so much for the lovely food and wine on arrival and the cottage is clean, tidy and very comfortable.  We forgot our binos so it was great to find some in the cupboard.  Will miss waking up to the view.  Thanks again, we will be back!
Caroline & Gareth, Will & Segolene (Hampshire) August 2014

We loved the views of the river, the super-equipped cottage with comfy beds, great coastal walks, swimming in the sea at St Ives and of course going out in Peggy the boat.
Katharine (Watford) July 2014

Thank you for such a lovely time.  A beautiful, restful holiday (with a few unexpected adventures thrown in), in such a gorgeous location that I found myself lost in revere.  Thanks for all the hospitalities too - such a welcome greeting after a long journey.  All the best and hope to enjoy Rock Cottage sometime again soon.
Will (Watford) July 2014

Fantastic week of walking and cycling.  Four bikes and us on the Helford Ferry was a squeeze!  We just about burned off all we've eaten - clotted cream, Gear Farm pasties and Linda's lovely bread.  Had some lovely evening cruises in Peggy too.  Will miss the views down the creek but hope to be back.  Many thanks.
Mark, Sarah, Rachel & David (Swansea) July 2014

We are very sad to be leaving Rock Cottage. It has been a lovely week, enjoying the stunning views and walks.  Used the BBQ twice which was fun but alas never ventured out in Peggy.  Maybe next time!  Many thanks.
Susan and Nigel (Devon) June/July 2014

I am actually struggling to find words to describe our time spent here, which is ironic as I am a reviewer by day but its starting to come back! Oh no! Blissful, breathtaking, tranquil, at peace, brilliant, happy very very happy and as a 24/7 carer, a total all inclusive holiday.  Rock Cottage has fed my soul, filled my eyes with wonder and made our hearts glad.  Linda fed our tummies with tasty treats, thought of everything.  Did not watch TV, no need, pure surround sound entertainment outdoors.  Please look after the female blackbird, she is almost eating out of our hands and will come looking for you wherever you are. Nuthatch, chaffinch, blue and great tits, robin, squirrels, rabbits, young foxes, egrets, shelducks, swans  so much to see.  Amazing!  We do not want to go home, we have been in a small paradise. Thank you Linda & Robin we will be back!
Jo & Chris (Peterborough) June 2014

What a wonderful place! What a wonderful landscape! And so friendly people!! It is so marvellous here, we enjoy every moment (Patti Smith: "Say it in broken Englisch"). We just come back from a walk at the south west coast path, tomorrow we will start the woodlands walk, Robin has shown us today. Linda, thank you very much for the fine bread, scones, jam and clotted cream (I fear that I have already got addicted to clotted cream...) - it was delicious!! Everything here is perfect!!  And thank you very much concerning the Royal Cornwall Show - that's a very good idea.
Birgit + Hans-Willi (Frankfurt, Germany) June 2014

Dear Linda, Thank you so much for a really wonderful stay.  I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed these beautiful views and the peace and quiet of Rock Cottage.  You have all worked so hard to make Rock Cottage beautiful, convenient and cozy, it is really amazing!  It has been great watching the children go feral, catching crabs, rowing in Peggy and bird spotting, not to mention the rest of Cornwall!  Thanks again very much.
Holly, Julian, Ava, Owen and Pip (Bermuda) May Half Term 2014

Had a wonderful week, weather glorious and the views from the kitchen window are breath taking.  The cottage and grounds are lovely, absolutely perfect in fact, it is immaculate and has everything you need.  We were glad to find the binoculars which we used almost constantly watching the birds and changing tides.  We walked parts of the coastal path over a couple of days and the views along the cliff tops are impressive.  We would love to come back.  So much to do, too little time!
Susan & Andrew (West Yorkshire) May 2014

Another wonderful holiday at RC (3rd visit). Delicious scones, jam and homemade bread to greet us along with a warm welcome.  The cottage as usual was lovely - so comfortable, well equipped and the most spectacular scenery.  Beautiful flowers inside and out.  Very good food at The Ship Inn (Mawgan). Rowing Peggy on the creek was wonderful - so peaceful - birdlife amazing.  Thank you Linda & Robin for another great holiday.
Sally & Robin (Lancashire) May 2014

Highlights: watching Grease at the Minack Theatre, going to the Eden Project and St Ives. Lunch at the Shipwrights Inn at Helford, crabbing competition at Rock Cottage, rowing in Peggy and paddling our kayak, taking our dog for walks and collecting wild garlic. The cottage is absolutely amazing and spotless as well as the surroundings! Thank you.
Jason, Vicky, Olivia & Grace (Wiltshire) April 2014

The second time here at this beautiful cottage.  Thank you again Linda & Robin for a lovely stay here; not disappointed at all as we know its just fabulous!  We went to the Ship Inn this time and the food was delicious, the staff lovely and they cater for children.  They enjoyed their food and the pirate ship they had to play with.  Peggy was fun and Woody, as usual loved the swimming.  A great week had by all.  Many thanks and see you again next year.
J
odie, Matt, Tom, Charlie, Beth & Woody (Rochester) April 2014

We have had the most fantastic week, weather beautiful. Thank you Linda & Robin for your welcome. This cottage is amazing, everything that we could wish for, and more. Total peace with many happy hours watching the birds. Lovely lunches at The Shipwrights and Ferryboat Inn at Helford. Sardines at The Ship in Porthleven. Good dinners up the road at The Ship Inn and The Prince of Wales. Would love to come back again!
Gwen & Graham (Dorset) March 2014

What a perfect place to start the New Year 2014. We very much enjoyed our all too brief stay. Waking up to the ever changing stunning view of the Mawgan Creek was a delight. Good walks around the coast and peaceful evenings playing scrabble and monopoly. Thank you.
Eva, Nigel, Leon & Lorenzo (Spain) January 2014

Thank you for a wonderful visit, the cottage was lovely and the views wonderful.  We've had a great time!
Sharmini, Jan, Rad & Sumi  (London) Christmas 2013

Goodbye Rock Cottage, it was a pleasure to have got to know you and enjoy your company and beautiful surroundings. Hopefully, it won't be too long before we meet again.
Donna & Peter (Plymouth) November 2013

From the comfy beds to the games cupboard, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. What a beautiful place to spend a few days. We love Rock Cottage and will be returning in the summer time to get that boat out on the water! There have been so many places to visit and explore - adventures every day. Thank you so much Linda & Robin (especially for the yummy cream tea on arrival).
James & Helena (Exeter) November 2013

Magnificent ever changing view of the creek - enchanting garden. Lovely welcome - lots in this part of Cornwall to explore - good eating, pubs. Appreciate being able to bring the dogs. In all the cottages in all the world, this is the cleanest! Thank you.
Muriel & Ken (Devon) October 2013

A very peaceful week in this delightful cottage.  Linda is a very considerate 'Landlady' and has made my stay very comfortable.  I hope all those that follow enjoy their time here.
Martin (Warwickshire) October 2013

Another wonderful stay (our 6th). The hydrangeas in some of the gardens we visited were magnificent. Very good Sunday lunch at the Five Pilchards, Porthallow. Very good fish lunch at 2 Forestreet, Mousehole. One week never seems quite long enough!
Miles & Gill  (Northallerton) September 2013

We had a wonderful week at Rock Cottage. Fantastic location, great garden.  Very clean and well equipped cottage - everything you could possibly need and more.  The home made bread, the scones, fresh flowers were a lovely touch.  The dogs loved their treats too - thank you (woof).  We've stayed at many holiday cottages but we can honestly say that Rock Cottage is our favourite and we are planning to come back for another holiday some time.  To Robin and Linda: thanks for making our holiday special.
Erik, Eleanor, Mark, Georgina, Amy (Devon) September 2013

Thank you Linda & Robin for a wonderful welcome to a fantastic cottage!  You really have thought of everything and the kitchen is the best equipped kitchen we've seen.  The weather has been kind and we have had many lovely walks and seen some great "secret beaches".  Linda's bread and scones were an added bonus!
Wray Family (Dorset) August 2013

I want to especially comment on the thoughtful way in which Rock Cottage is equipped and appointed.  Most holiday cottages have the bare minimum of kitchen utensils/tools etc but RC had everything we needed + more.  Linda & Robin have obviously put a great deal of thought into equipping things - it really makes a difference.  The decor is also fresh and beautiful.  John & I were also delighted by the welcome bread, milk, dog treats and particularly the cream tea.  A lovely refreshment after the long journey.  RC was a lovely place to stay with exquisite views and surroundings adn we will definitely endeavour to return if we are back in Cornwall in the future. Thank you.
Clare & John & baby (Houston, Texas USA) July 2013
