The Accommodation

Covid-19. Please note that we have had to change and implement new practices and this has resulted in some of our *home comforts being removed from the property until further notice.

Rock Cottage is beautifully appointed with high quality furnishings and white goods throughout.  It is fully equipped and maintained to our very high standards and has Superfast Fibre Broadband too.  With three bedrooms, which includes the separate Garden Room, the property sleeps a maximum of four adults with two children only.

Whatever the season, the house is welcoming, warmed by an efficient oil fired boiler with radiators in each room and set up with all you need to have a comfortable and relaxing stay. You will find Rock Cottage appealing, with attention to detail in all rooms, your beds made, and personally prepared by Linda and Robin just for you.

The oak front door leads into the warm Hall which has washable quarry tiled flooring as does the kitchen.  To the left is the newly fitted Kitchen/Diner which enjoys a fabulous view from a large picture window. This room has a small walk-in pantry, is fully equipped for the discerning cook with many new appliances: AEG Steam Oven, 60/40 Fridge/Freezer, Smeg ceramic halogen hob, Panasonic microwave, AEG washer/dryer and a half size Bosch dishwasher. Sit and observe the bird life on the river and in the garden from the beech dining table.

Off the entrance hall is the new luxury fitted Bathroom.  It consists of a full white suite with a beautiful J shaped bath, overhead electric shower, inset hand basin, toilet, large hands-free LED lit wall mirror incorporating a make up magnifying area, and a shaver point. A large dual purpose ladder style radiator warms your towels. Bath sheets, hand towels and a bath mat as well as luxury toiletries are supplied.  This room also serves guests using the Garden Room.

On the right is the fully refurbished and newly carpeted Sitting Room which retains lots of character. It has the original cob walls, cushioned window seats and a large stone inglenook with a lovely old copper canopy housing an electric wood burning effect stove. Sit and relax in this warm and comfortable room with its luxurious sofa and matching armchairs as you watch a movie, listen to music on the ipod or perhaps play a board game. There is also a dining table, chairs and an oak sideboard with lots of *games, *puzzles, *jigsaws, pair of binoculars and tourist information. Oil paintings, pot lids and original quirky alcoves, decorate the walls. A 28" LED TV, dvd/vcr, *music system with *ipod dock, current magazines, *local books, *novels, *maps, *DVDs and *CDs are there for your entertainment.

The two upstairs bedrooms are reached by an open tread wooden staircase which has a short wall mounted hand rail. You will find the Master and Children's bedrooms are well furnished with comfortable beds, quality linen, wooden floors with long soft rugs complimented by their solid pitch pine doors. These two rooms look out over the garden with a view as far as the eye can see down the Mawgan Creek.

The triple aspect Master Bedroom has a very comfortable king size (5ft) bed, oak dressing table and mirror with a matching chest of drawers as well as a small built in wardrobe. To guarantee a great night's sleep, for 2021, we are providing Dorma bedding, pillows and Egyptian cotton linen. There are solid oak bedside tables, pretty glass lamps with silk shades and like the adjacent Children’s Room, a spectacular view down the river. This is decorated in a vibrant seaside theme with two standard length beds which are 2’6” wide, and therefore may not be suitable for adults. An airing cupboard with immersion heater is off this room.

If requested, we can provide a plastic bath, travel cot (0-2 years old), high chair and a changing mat. Please bring bedding and towels.

The cottage, its facilities and garden are not suitable for the infirm, disabled persons, toddlers or unsupervised children.

Children's Bedroom

GARDEN ROOM: Three metres from the oak front door and up two steps, is the separate third bedroom. This room is designed and furnished for adults or possibly teenagers and is unsuitable for younger children. The spacious bedroom has been completely refitted with a new carpet, 3ft wide zip and link beds as well as a 40" wall mounted television.

The large opening picture windows reveal a fabulous view of the garden and the river. When a couple choose to sleep in this room, and at their request, the bed will be made up as a 6ft double. Bathroom facilities are in the main building. The Garden Room is furnished with a white Shaker style combination wardrobe/drawers, dressing table, chair, large mirror and bedside cabinet complete with overhead lights.

BOAT: For many years we have provided a rowing dinghy for guests who wish to explore the Mawgan Creek.  'Peggy' is sturdy, 3.5M in length and suitable for up to four persons.  She is available weather and tides permitting, from Easter until late October when she is taken out of the water, refitted and rested during the winter months. Stone steps lead to a large wooden staging where children can crab fish with line and bacon, kayaks can be stored or you may fish for Grey Mullet, Sea Bass and flat fish. Down on the rocky foreshore and fixed to a running line you will find the dinghy. Access to the river, which may be unsuitable for some, is by the garden or through our woodland. Use of these facilities and the boat is at Your Own Risk. A tide table is provided so you may plan your outing. The Creek has approximately 3+ hours of water either side of high tide, and except for a small channel, drains completely. When this occurs, a myriad of water birds that live along the shoreline, will arrive to feed.

Peggy, ready and waiting
